This is a very well made pocket guide, concise and comprehensive. The pages are almost indestructible. It seems to be a kind of hybrid between paper and plastic. The spiral binding and the color coded tabs make it even more convenient. All clinicians should have this. The letters are tiny but still very readable because of the text style that was chosen and the page itself makes the text readable too I am very pleased with this booklet. It's well worth the price. Good job!
I work in orthopedics and its not very user friendly.......to much with basic triage info....not very practical for actual ortho work.
I had been looking for a nice pocket guide/reference for being in an outpatient setting. This has helped me out several times as it is easily opened, and directions are easy to follow. Works great for when treating a patient and want to make sure I am performing a special test correctly for a proper diagnosis.
This book is well-made and easy to follow, but it's not what I was hoping it would be.I was looking for a concise guide to evaluating various joints, but this books seems to be more of a compendium of information about joints and how to test them. In terms of doing a quick screen of a joint to evaluate for a vague patient complaint, I don't know how helpful this will be. If you are looking for a guide to every possible way to evaluate every part of a joint, this may be what you're looking for (eg. maybe on an Ortho rotation).
Provides a great deal of assessment guides for musculoskeletal system. Includes sensitivity and specificity for each test. Really sturdy pocket guide which is nice when you're a student and always pulling it out for reference! ;)
This is a great tool for those beginning in the ortho field. The book is a perfect size for fitting into a large scrub or lab coat pocket. The pages are thick and coated, and feel like they could stand up to a lot of abuse. This coating also allows for making notes with a dry erase marker and erasing. (I've tested it!) The only slight negative is the overall thickness of the book. The size is small enough to fit into pockets but the thickness (over an inch) can be a bit cumbersome at times.
As A PT student I kept these on my desk at home for a quick reference and when I was doing my rotations, I carried them along with me. Not the most detailed instructions/info but they are just meant to serve as a quick guide/reference if you need a reminder (not to teach you something brand new). Also purchased the Neuro version when I got my license (which was very helpful as I prefer orthopedics but still see some neuro pt's come through my door).
Use this thing all the time for quick refresher if I haven't done a specific test in a while. I keep it in my desk at work.
